So much of the success of the KC Academy to date is thanks to brands who have the same vision and goals as the academy and want to help bring diversity into the world of cycling!
RAPHA FOUNDATION
At the start of 2022 we were grateful to receive funding through the Rapha Foundation grant. This funding has continued to help KC Academy members with making key progress in their cycling journeys. This funding has also allowed us to recruit new members into the academy by holding two testing days at Derby and London velodromes. We have also used these funds to host experience days for academy members allowing them access to various experts in their respective fields.
RAPHA
Rapha UK has not only been amazing in hosting two For The Culture events that have brought together voices from across cycling who strive for diversity, but they have supported our vision as an academy and offer assistance to our athletes when they need new cycling attire. Through our partnership with Rapha we were able to bring Kadeena’s vision of a bright and expressive cycling kit to life. Each member of the academy was then provided with a full riding kit in Kadeena’s bespoke Rapha design. The kit is even now worn in game on KC Academy zwift rides.
ZWIFT
We have been so grateful to have the support of Zwift in many ways. The team at Zwift HQ hosted our academy members for a day allowing them to learn more about the platform and see how they can take their cycling to the next level using Zwift. They have also helped provide equipment to our athletes allowing them to continue cycling no matter what the weather. Thanks to the ongoing support of Zwift we have also been able to set up bi-weekly rides that allow people to ride and chat and continue to build the cycling community.
SPORTS AID
We are also incredibly grateful for the help of Sports Aid who have been a valuable partner to the KC Academy from our founding days through to today. Sports Aid is a charity whose values very much align with those of the KC Academy as they strive to support young, talented athletes on their pathway to achieving their sporting dreams. Thanks to the continued support of Sports Aid we have been able to grow the KC Academy to the point it is at today. They have assisted with setting up a framework for success, developing athlete agreements and identifying and completing grants that fit our objectives.
